Apply To Be The New WU Co-Fac!
The WU is looking for a new Co-Facilitator to help supervise the WU for Fall 2013-Spring 2014! WU Co-Fac is a two semester position. You work with the other Co-Fac to hire the WU staff each semester, help them in organizing events, plan WU Thursday Noon Lunches, liaison with the administration, and other administrative tasks. If you have any questions, please contact Grace (gaw02010@mymail.pomona.edu) or Quinn (qal02009@mymail.pomona.edu). Send your completed application to Grace at gaw02010@mymail.pomona.edu, which is due on Monday, April 22nd by 5pm. Please also provide possible times that you may be available that week (Tuesday, April 23rd-Sunday April 28) for interviews.
This Week’s WU Thursday Noon Lunch
Join the WU this Thursday for ‘Cultural Politics of Beauty and Bodies,’ a discussion led by Oluwakemi Balogun, a Chau Postdoctoral Fellow, who will discuss Pop cultural images from American media and the beauty and fashion industry and how they tend to portray one-dimensional messages about beauty ideals. She will focus on how beauty and the body are feminist concerns, to what extent American-dominated bodily standards have traveled globally, and what counter-movements exist to advocate for body diversity and acceptance.
Lunch will be served at 11:30 and the talk will start at noon.
The WU is on the 2nd floor of Walker Lounge.
For this week’s WU Thursday Noon join History Professor April Mayes for a conversation about income insecurity in California and its effects on mothers and children. Lunch will be served at 11:30AM and the conversation will begin at Noon. The WU is on the second floor of Walker Lounge.

WU Events This Week
WU Thursday Noon Study Abroad Discussion
Join the WU this Thursday at noon for a panel discussion on issues of race, gender, class, sexual orientation, and feminism while studying abroad! Come listen to student’s personal experiences and share your own. Lunch will be served at 11:30 and the talk begins at noon and will go until 1:00 PM. The WU Is located on the second floor in Walker Lounge. Lunch will be provided. We hope to see you there!
